DOMINO HOUSE

This project is based on Le Corbusier's "Dom-INO" House. An idea of a perfect architectural project following Corbusier's five basic rules, known as Les 5 Points d' une architecture nouvelle. These rules were (1) pilotis (columns) elevating the mass off the ground, (2) a free plan, achieved through the separation of the load-bearing columns from the walls subdividing the space, (3) a free façade, the corollary of the free plan in the vertical plane, (4) along with the horizontal sliding window and finally (5) a roof garden, restoring, supposedly, the area of ground covered by the house.

This Domino House project was designed to accommodate a small family while providing all the spaces necessary for a home. This Domino House is designed in such a way to allow for the main floor to be set at the center of the house where the main parts of a home include the kitchen, living room, and study. The more private parts of a home include the bedrooms and secondary living room are located on the top floor allowing for seclusion and privacy for the family. The bottom floor includes the garage, storage, and a work space. The circulation and placement of each room allows for access to the main area of the house. The use of windows and outdoor space allows for the connection and interaction with the landscape and nature around the house. This Domino House is designed for the purpose of allowing a family to be connected to the house as well as what is around it. The house creates a sense of comfort and community through its design.
